So Rocky Mountain Veterinary Neurologycalled and told me Brooklyn’s potassium bromide serum level was low. They increased her dose by almost double. She is pretty subdued and not herself most of the day. Her skin is dry and her hair is thinning out in places. She has also put on 3.5 pounds! thats a lot for a little dachsie. They said in due time this will all get better. RMVN said that it is common for her to have these types of side effects, because of all of the different medications she is on.
Hopefully with the medication increase her levels will stabilize and her seizures will decrease. She had her first daytime seizure Thursday morning. She hasn’t had a daytime seizure since being in the hospital. I was reading with her on the back of the chair I was sitting in, when I heard the typical grunting and wincing associated with seizures. I just picked her up, and laid her on the floor, and just lay by her side while she seized. I know I may sound like a broken record, but it doesn’t get easier to watch.
Next blog post I’ll write a little about her “Brooklyn-isms.” There all the things she does that makes her personality so cute. Right now she doesn’t do those things, which breaks my heart. Please share her blog and please DONATE to her youcaring page if you can. I am still trying to find a way to pay her bill off. As always, thank you for reading, sharing and donating. May God bless you!
